BEACON – The solar farm being developed on the old Beacon City landfill should be completed in the next several weeks.
Mayor Randy Casale said like other solar projects, it will save the city money.
“It will be a revenue savings for us because we will be able to
deduct whatever we put into the grid we will deduct off our electric bills,”
he said. The mayor said the savings to the city is estimated at about
$140,000 per year.
The Beacon project will generate two megawatts of electricity.
The company developing the project, BQ Energy, has built solar farms in Patterson and Esopus as well as in Texas, Colorado, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maryland.
