TOWN OF GOSHEN – A leader of the Concerned Citizens for the Hudson Valley group is glad to see that the Goshen Town Board is going to move forward with a town-wide referendum on whether the town should sell parcels of land to Merlin Entertainments for development of the Legoland theme park.
Debbie Corr said it is about time. “Finally they are going to allow the people to vote on something they should have had the right to vote on all along,” she said.
The town board had originally approved the sale of the land to Merlin. Residents filed petitions calling for a referendum, but the town board challenged them. A State Supreme Court justice ruled the petitions to be invalid but recently, an appellate court overruled. the board has chosen not to appeal that decision.
Corr said her group will now embark on a campaign to educate town residents about the referendum issue.
