NEW CITY – A US Postal Service letter carrier, whose route is in New City, was honored on Wednesday for helping to save a New City man’s life early this year.
While delivering mail on January 3 on Greenwood Drive in New City, mailman Robert Korba, Jr. of Monroe went to the aid of a resident, who had collapsed in his driveway. He quickly positioned the man and began chest compressions until police arrived.
Clarkstown Police credited Korba with saving the man’s life that day. The resident passed away the following weekend, but his family credited Korba with giving them the opportunity to spend a few more days with their loved one.
The mailman was presented with special hero awards from Postmaster General Megan Brennan and National Association of Letter Carriers National President Fredric Rolando.
