TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A brush fire over the weekend in the Arlington section of the Town of Poughkeepsie consumed some 20 acres of woodland. It began in the rear of 342 Van Wagner Road.
The cause is under investigation, said Fire Protection Officer, Capt. George Finn.
Neighbor James Grantt saw tanker trucks going back and forth to replenish their water supply and he heard chainsaws buzzing as firefighters worked to create fire breaks.
Assisting in the firefighting effort were LaGrange, Roosevelt and Pleasant Valley fire departments, State DEC conservation officers, and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response.
Other brush fires this weekend were in Woodstock and Livingston Manor.
