Bank robbery suspect caught

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Hours after the TD Bank branch on South
Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie was robbed at 9:30 Thursday morning,
a suspect was in custody.

The bandit had handed a teller a note demanding cash and saying he had
a gun although none was displayed.
He fled on foot and was spotted getting into a vehicle.

That car was spotted on South Road in Poughkeepsie at 4:50 p.m. where
it was stopped and the suspect taken into custody.

Jake Oliva, 27, of Hudson Harbour Drive in Poughkeepsie was charged with
felony robbery and committed to the Dutchess County Jail on $20,000 cash
bail or $50,000 bond.
Assisting in the investigation were the State Police, Dutchess Sheriff’s
Office, Ulster Sheriff’s Office and Hudson Valley Crime Analysis
Center.
