KINGSTON – A Newburgh man, currently in the Ulster County Jail, is charged with felony promoting prison contraband and misdemeanor drug possession after he was found to have drugs in his possession.
Michael O’Connor, 22, is being held in the jail on unrelated charges.
At about 1:20 in the afternoon on April 3, members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Emergency Response Team and K-9 team discovered 23 “bags” or “decks” of heroin while conducting a search of O’Connor in the jail.
Sheriff’s Office detectives filed the new charges against him and he is scheduled to appear in Kingston City Court at a later date.
