MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Common Council is considering allowing college students to live in private residences.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano said the measure would require the students to attend college in the city.
“The landlord would have to register the property and they would have to demonstrate that the tenants – up to three – are all full-time students enrolled as a full-time student in college here,” he said.
The zoning code change would apply to students attending Touro medical college and Fei Tian Academy in Middletown.
No one spoke about the proposal during a public hearing earlier this week.
