Check on disabled car leads to gun and drug charges

STONY POINT – An Old Town, Florida man has been arrested and charged with possession of a loaded gun and possession of methamphetamine along with equipment and material used to manufacture the drug.
State Police investigated a disabled vehicle on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Stony Point on Tuesday and found the driver, Matthew Pate, 38, armed and asleep at the wheel.
Following investigation, Pate was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine and unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, all as felonies, and criminal possession of a controlled substance as a misdemeanor. He was sent to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail.
