GOSHEN – For more than 30 years there has been discussion of the need for a large conference center in Orange County. Nothing has materialized until now.
Orange County Partnership President Maureen Halahan said two developers are exploring the possibility now and she believes the timing is right.
“There is becoming more of an interest,” Halahan said. “We are going to be a destination. Conference centers come where when people aren’t working at the conference they can shop; they can bring their family and go to Legoland or go to a casino. I think we are in a position now where we might see one happen.”
One part of Orange County that would be ideal for a conference center is the Stewart Airport area because of the growth at the airport, Halahan said.
