WHITE PLAINS – A White
Plains man was convicted in Westchester County Court of engaging in a
course of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13.

Prosecutors said the sexual abuse by Jard Hobbs, 44, began when the child
was 11 and ended when she was 13 when she told her family. Hobbs was in
his 40s at the time. The family reported the abuse to Rye Police. During
the investigation, they found DNA evidence including semen in the child’s
shorts that corroborated the charges.

Hobbs was arrested at his residence on July 7, 2017.

He was convicted of course of sexual conduct against a child, rape, and
endangering the welfare of a child and faces up to 32 years in state prison
when sentenced in May. He will also have register as a sex offender once
released from prison.

The case was investigated by Rye Police, the Child abuse Bureau of the
Special Prosecutions Division of the Westchester District Attorney’s
office and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
