Brooklyn man arrested for trying to lure teen to Sullivan County for sex

MONTICELLO – A Brooklyn man has been arrested on charges of luring
a child, attempted rape and endangering the welfare of a child in connection
with his effort to lure a teenager to a hotel in Sullivan County for sex.

The State Police Troop F Child Abuse Unit in Sullivan County arrested
Abraham Silverberg, 51, an employee of Public School 116 in Manhattan.

The investigation also revealed Silverberg had sexual contact with a child
under the age of 13 while living in Kings County. The information led
to a joint investigation with Troop C New York City BCI in Brooklyn.

Silverberg was arraigned in Thompson Town Court and remanded to the Sullivan
County Jail without bail.

The charges in Kings County are pending.
