Grand Marshal MaryEllen Odell called it a “pleasure and honor”

MAHOPAC – Everyone was a “little bit Irish” in Mahopac Sunday for Putnam County’s 42nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Following a week of stormy weather, the weatherman cooperated with golden sunshine and temperatures in the low 40’s that warmed the hearts of the more than 5,000 marchers and an additional 3,500 men, women and children along the sidelines.
The parade, New York State’s third largest, behind New York City and Yonkers, consisted of 80 units that included marching bands, police, fire departments, civil servants, schools and various organizations from across the region.
This year’s grand marshal was County Executive MaryEllen Odell who called it a “pleasure and honor” to have been selected by the Emerald Association of Putnam to lead the parade. “Immigrants come to the U.S. for a better life just like my family did. My mission has and always will be to move Putnam County in a positive direction so a better life may be had for generations to come.”
