Pine Bush woman accused of welfare fraud

KINGSTON – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office charged a Pine Bush woman with welfare fraud for collecting $2,403 in SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled.
Tara Garcia was also charged with grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing.  An investigation by the Ulster County Department of Social Service Special Investigations Unit, in conjunction with the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, discovered that she failed to report income from February to October 2017.
Garcia was released to reappear in town court at a later date.
