Mt. Vernon man pleads guilty to cab robberies

NEW YORK – A Mount Vernon cab driver pled guilty on Thursday in federal court in Manhattan to four counts of robbery in connection with a spree in which he threatened livery cab drivers and robbed them of cash, personal items and their cabs.
According to court papers, Allanmon Mavumkal, 30, terrorized four livery cab drivers with a knife, robbing them of their money and cars. He pled guilty to four counts of robbery, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
