GOSHEN – A Highland Falls man was sentenced to five years in state
prison and three years of post-release supervision by Orange County Court
Judge Craig Stephen Brown on his guilty plea to felony criminal possession
of drugs.

Rakeem Whatley, 42, was found in possession of 3.7 grams of cocaine when
police executed a search warrant at his apartment.

He was also charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia for possessing
packaging material.
Town of Highlands Police assisted Village of Highland Falls Police in
the execution of the search warrant.

“One key to successful narcotics enforcement is cooperation and
coordination between various law enforcement agencies,” said District
Attorney David Hoovler. “Narcotics enforcement within small insular
communities can be particularly challenging, but is possible when agencies
share resources and information.”
