HUGHSONVILLE – Fire damaged the garage and kitchen in a house at
21 MacFarlane Road in the Town of Wappinger just before 9 a.m. on Friday.
Hughsonville firefighters responded to find the fire started in the garage
of a ranch-style house with extension into the kitchen.
The occupant escaped from the building safely.
The fire was brought under control within 25 minute with Fire Chief Ed
D’Anna crediting firefighters’ quick action with preventing
the fire from spreading any further.
There was minimal damage to the living area.
Several other fire departments assisted along with State Police, Dutchess
County Sheriff’s Office and the county Department of Emergency Response.
County fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
