WEST POINT – Peter Wang, 15, was in his Junior ROTC uniform as he held the door open so that his classmates, teachers and staffers could escape gunfire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14.  He was one of the 17 murdered by the gunman at the Parkland, Florida school.

Wang’s dream was to be accepted at the US Military Academy at West Point. The academy on Tuesday posthumously appointed him.
“One of West Point’s priorities is to develop leaders of character who are committed to the values of Duty, Honor and Country,” an academy statement said. “Peter Wang’s actions on February 14th are an example of those very principles and for this reason the academy honors his dream of being a West Point cadet with a 2025 letter of acceptance.”
The Academy statement said, “We honor Peter Wang for being a leader of character and we send our condolences to the families of all the victims.”
