NEW WINDSOR – Café Spice GCT, Inc. is going to move its
food manufacturing business from a 40,000-square foot building in the
Town of New Windsor to a 140,000-square foot facility across the Hudson
River in the City of Beacon.
The family-owned business makes meals-to-go under their own label sold in several area stores as well as under private labels.
Café Spice is seeking financial incentives in their move to Beacon, said Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency Executive Director Sarah Lee.
“They were looking in New Jersey, but they decided against it because most of their workforce lives in the Hudson Valley and they view their employees as family and they really wanted to stay in the Hudson Valley so they were able to find the former Medtronic site in Beacon, New York,” Lee said.
The investment in the move is $10 million, said Lee, who said the company employs 150 people and anticipates growing that number.
Café Spice is seeking a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) agreement
as well as a mortgage filing fee exemption and sales tax exemption on
building materials.
