NEW PALTZ – The State Department of Environmental Conservation will hold a regional summit to address harmful algal blooms at SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday, February 27. The session will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Student Union Multi-Purpose Room at SUNY New Paltz.
The increased frequency and duration of those blooms threaten drinking water quality and the recreational use of lakes.
The summit, and three others held in other areas of the state, will bring together national and state experts, including scientists from Kansas, Ohio, Tennessee and Vermont, as well as SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Cornell University, the New York State Soil and Water Conservation Committee, and local stakeholders.
