CARMEL – A New Milford, Connecticut man has been charged with DWI and leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident in the Town of Southeast.
Shortly after 2 in the morning on February 2, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Ronald Yeager was on routine patrol when he was dispatched to Cameron’s Deli in Southeast in response to a 911 call for a report of an unconscious woman in a car.
When Yeager arrived, EMS personnel were already there attending to the 22-year-old woman in the rear seat of a Toyota Camry. The deputy noticed the rear passenger door was severely dented and the window had been shattered.
Yeager noticed that the driver, Maxwell Archer of New Milford, and another woman, the front seat passenger, were standing outside the vehicle.
Investigation revealed Archer had a blood alcohol content of .12 percent. He told the deputy he had hit a tree somewhere on Route 312, but could not say exactly where and that he called 911 from the deli to report the unconscious woman. She was revived at the scene and taken to Putnam Hospital Center complaining of neck and head pain.
An open bottle of whiskey was recovered from the car.
Archer was charged with two counts of DWI, one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident and was issued a traffic ticket for having an open container of alcohol.
