Not handicapped friendly

PORT JERVIS – Top Metro-North and Port Jervis officials are expected to make a major announcement about the city’s train station late this afternoon.
Speculation is that it will have to do with the need for handicap accessibility to train cars.
Several weeks ago, an ad hoc community group called for the accessibility, which is lacking, making it difficult, if not impossible, for people with disabilities to board trains.
State Senator John Bonacic is expected to join Mayor Kelly Decker, Acting Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi and Susan Metzger, chairwoman of the MTA’s Metro-North Committee, at the train station for the announcement.
