BEACON – A proposal to construct a 307-unit transit-oriented multi-family development within walking distance to the Beacon train station is working its way through the planning stages of city government.
The project, to be called Edgewater, is planned by Scenic Beacon Developments, LLC.
The property is the only land in the city zoned for a Designated Residence Zoning District, said attorney Taylor Palmer of Cuddy &  Feder, the firm representing the developer.
“The 307 units proposed by the applicant are consistent with their comprehensive plan and ultimately designed to better account for preserving open spaces on the property and promote better aesthetics, which are in accordance with the city’s comprehensive plan and local waterfront revitalization program guidelines,” Palmer said.
“Edgewater represents Beacon’s commitment to being at the leading edge of business, beauty and the natural environment,” said Rodney Weber, managing member of Scenic Beacon Developments.
The project would include 96 studio apartments, 115 one-bedroom, 86 two-bedroom and 10 three-bedroom, as well as below-market-rate units in accordance with the city’s Affordable-Workforce Housing Law. There will also be common space for residents.
