GOSHEN – A Montgomery woman, who was a teacher’s aide, was convicted on two counts each of rape, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child for having sex with a boy under the age of 17.
Mary Thompson, 46, is alleged to have taken the victim to a motel room on two occasions in February 2017 where she had sex with him. She was convicted in a bench trial before Judge William DeProspo on Monday, January 29.
Thompson was sent to the Orange County Jail without bail following the verdict. She faces up to seven years in state prison for each of the felony rape counts when sentenced in March.
District Attorney David Hoovler said Thompson “took advantage of a teenager, and knowingly acted in a manner that she knew would be injurious to his mental and moral welfare.” He said it is “disturbing that someone who committed these crimes was a teacher’s aide at the time.”
