YONKERS – A 39-year-old Yonkers man has been arrested and charged
with stealing money from the donation box at Sacred Heart Church at 110
Shonnard Place in Yonkers.
Kevin Madison was spotted on surveillance video by church administrators
who alerted police who caught him as he was leaving the area following
the incident on Friday, January 19 at about 2:47 p.m.
Police said he used a metal hook to fish $30 from the donation box. The
money was recovered.
When Madison was placed in a police car, he became belligerent, kicked
the rear door and banged his head against the partition several times.
He was taken by police to a hospital for evaluation before he was arrested.
Charges lodged include petit larceny, possession of burglar’s tools,
criminal possession of stolen property and obstructing governmental administration,
all as felonies.
