Unemployment up slightly in Hudson Valley

ALBANY – The unemployment rate rose slightly in all Hudson Valley counties in December, according to the state Labor Department.
Columbia County had the lowest rate in December at 3.8 percent, an increase from 3.6 percent in December 2016.
Putnam and Dutchess counties each had 4.1 percent joblessness in December.
Putnam rose from 3.9 percent while in Dutchess, it increased from 4.0
percent.
Rockland County was at 4.2 percent, up from 3.9 percent one year earlier.
Ulster and Westchester counties each had 4.4 percent unemployment with
Ulster up from 4.3 percent in December 2016 and Westchester up from 4.0
percent.
Orange County rose from 4.1 percent in December 2016 to 4.4 percent in
December 2017.
Greene County, at 5.5 percent in December, had the highest rate in the region. It was an increase from 5.0 percent in December 2016.
