CATSKILL – Less than 24 hours after police issued an alert for the person who abused pitbull mix dog named Penny by the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA, a suspect is in custody.
Paul Bull was charged with animal cruelty, said SPCA President Ron Perez, who credited the Greene County District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office for cracking the case.
The two- to three-year-old female had been left on the side of the road on or near Schoharie Turnpike in Earlton where she made her way to a home where the owners called animal control.  She had suffered a severe case of mange and secondary infections in her skin.
She has since been treated and Perez said he anticipates Penny will be adopted “to her forever home, never to experience the neglect and abuse she lived through again.”
