ALBANY – The state’s Aviation Capital Grant Program awarded funding to four area airports in their efforts to attract new businesses and visitors.
Orange County Airport in Montgomery will receive $1.3 million to construct a new corporate hangar, which Airport Director Ed Magryta said is sorely needed.
“It will be largely aimed toward our jet customers and jet aviation businesses, whether it be a charter, or privately owned, or a corporately owned, or a maintenance/management business,” Magryta said.
The 11,000 to 12,000-square foot facility is expected to accommodate two to three small to medium sized jets.  This grant is in addition to an $880,000 state grant last year for another hangar which is going out to bid now.
Sullivan County International Airport in Bethel will receive $485,100 to replace a fuel farm.
Hudson Valley Regional Airport, formerly called Dutchess County Airport, in Wappinger, will receive over $70,000 to purchase a maintenance vehicle.
Columbia County Airport will receive almost $250,000 for demolition of farm structures/obstructions.
