Counties open warming centers as frigid temps overtake the region

MID-HUDSON – Warming centers
are being opened in Sullivan and Ulster counties among other area of the
region as the nighttime temperatures dip into the single digits.
In Sullivan County, two warming centers will open from today (Wednesday) at noon through at least Sunday, December 31, at 4 p.m.
The centers will be at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center at 5 Jefferson Street in Monticello and at the United Methodist Church at 170 North Main Street in Liberty.
In Ulster, the county’s warming center is located at the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church at 122 Clinton Avenue in Kingston. It is open round the clock from now through 7 a.m. Thursday, January 4.
The northeast can expect several days of well below normal temperatures, along with a chance of measurable snow on Saturday.
