Dozens of processing stations were set up to accommodate the hundreds of applicants

ROCK HILL – Resorts World Catskills held their first job fair in
Rock Hill on Thursday.
Hundreds of hopeful job seekers came out to apply for a myriad of positions.
Some, having filled out their applications prior to the job fair, were
expedited into interviews quickly, in less than a half-hour, according
to some interviewees.
Resorts World Catskills Executive Vice President Charles Degliomini said they’re trying to fill 1,400 positions prior to their opening, now scheduled for mid-February.
“We’re seeing people who are from every walk of life and people from all various, current careers who are interested in working for us. We provide a tremendous opportunity for people,” said Degliomini. “We’re in the hospitality business, obviously we’re casino people, we like to talk about casinos; but, first and foremost, we’re in the hospitality business. We’re looking for people who understand what our philosophy is; which is you never get a second chance to make a first impression with a guest.”
All positions, from security to culinary, were open. Some interviewees were even given conditional employment, pending a screening from the New York State Gaming Commission.
Patricia from Middletown, who was hired for a guest services job, said she was very pleased with the process. “I thought that the level of professionalism was great,” she said. “They were quick and it wasn’t a long process, especially if you had done application online, and I like what they’re offering.”
Acacia Anderson from Monticello, who was offered a front desk position, said she felt at ease by the hiring staff for an interaction she had expected to be nerve wracking.  “I was very nervous, but the man who interviewed me was very nice, made me feel comfortable, and I was fortunate enough to be offered a job,” said Anderson.
Barry Leslie of Connecticut, who was also impressed by the speed and ease of the process, was offered a position as table games supervisor, given he had prior experience in Atlantic City, Louisiana and Connecticut. He said he was extremely happy to be getting back to work after over two years.
“I’m just excited to work here,” said Leslie.  “I can’t tell you how excited I am to start working here. I’ve been out of business for two-and-a-half years taking care of my mom and now, I’m back in the business and I can’t wait, I can’t wait.”
The next job fair will be held on December 16 at the Orange County Emergency Services Center in Goshen. Degliomini said there will be additional job fairs between Christmas and New Year’s, as well as in January, but dates and locations have yet to be announced.
