KINGSTON – A 38-year-old
former Kingston man was sentenced on Tuesday by Ulster County Court Judge
Donald Williams to seven years in state prison and 10 years of post-release
supervision on a charge of sexual abuse in the first degree.

David Vega-Soto pled guilty to the charge in October admitting that on
June 25, 2017 he subjected a child under the age of 11 to sexual contact.

He will be required to register under the state Sexual Offender Registration
Act for a minimum of 20 years and an order of protection was issued to
remain in effect until 2035.

Vega-Soto is a citizen of Mexico and may face additional proceedings with
the US Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customer Enforcement.

Vega-Soto was arrested on June 30 following an investigation by the Ulster
County Family and Child Advocacy Center.

District Attorney Holley Carnright praised the victim of this crime and
other children in the home for their bravery in coming forward quickly.
