Elderly man killed in Mid-Hudson Bridge crash

Crash closed the busy Mid-Hudson Bridge for three hours

HIGHLAND – A 90-year-old Town of Poughkeepsie man was killed Tuesday morning when his eastbound SUV veered into the opposite lane on the Mid-Hudson Bridge and struck a tractor-trailer driven by a 58-year-old Cairo man.
The SUV driver died at the scene according to Lloyd Town Police. The truck driver was not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
The bridge was closed for approximately three hours after the 10:15 a.m. crash.
Lloyd Police were assisted at the scene by State Police and City of Poughkeepsie Police, fire departments from Highland and City of Poughkeepsie, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Bridge Authority and Mobile Life Support Service.
