Brooklyn man charged with firing AR-15 in occupied bungalow colony

TOWN OF THOMPSON – State Police have charged a 22-year-old Brooklyn
man with firing 55 rounds of .223 ammunition from 15-round magazines from
an unregistered AR-15 rifle inside a bungalow colony at 1040 Sackett Lake
Road in the Town of Thompson.

Police said the shots were fired toward a residential area where the suspect,
Moishe Ashkenazy knew people to be living.

Investigators located under a bungalow an AR-15 rifle with three, 15-round
magazines, one 10-round magazine and one Truglo scope in a black case.
Ashkenazy admitted to owning the rifle and the accessories as well as
being the one who shot the semi-automatic weapon.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment
and violation of environmental conservation laws.

Ashkenazy was committed to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000
cash bail or $2,500 bond.
