Man sets himself on fire in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – A man poured
gasoline over his entire body and then set himself on fire early Sunday
morning.

Newburgh City Police said that just before 4 a.m., the man, whose name
they did not make public, purchased a pre-paid amount of gas from the
Shell station at 405 Broadway then doused his body and set himself on
fire. Bystanders attempted to put the fire out with snow.

City Police and Mobile Life Support Services responded to the scene. The
man was taken to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital before being transferred
to Westchester Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
