Woman struck and killed by freight train

TOWN OF ULSTER – A woman
was struck and killed by a CSX locomotive traveling northbound in the
Town of Ulster early Tuesday afternoon.

Town Police said the pedestrian-train accident occurred on tracks off
Route 9W in the area of Tractor Supply at around 1:15 p.m.
The train, en route from Oak Island, New Jersey to Detroit, Michigan,
consisted of two locomotives and 89 empty automobile cars, CSX spokesman
according to Christopher Smith.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Ulster Police were assisted at the scene by the Ulster Hose Fire Department
and CSX Police.
