TOWN OF BETHEL – The old Bethel landfill, closed for 25 years, could become home to a solar farm.
Town Supervisor Daniel Sturm said they will issue a request for proposals this month seeking developers to create the facility.
“We are hoping we get some interest and can provide some solar electricity to some of our residents and maybe even town uses also if the numbers come back decent,” Sturm said.
Other municipalities around the region have developed or are exploring development of solar farms on closed landfills.
