Westbound I-84 in Dutchess County at standstill Thursday afternoon

EAST FISHKILL – If you were driving on Interstate 84 westbound
in Dutchess County on Thursday afternoon, chances are you sat in bumper-to-bumper
traffic at a virtual standstill for hours.

A tractor-trailer accident on the highway in brought traffic to a grinding
halt. The road was closed at exit 17 Ludingtonville Road from 1 p.m. until
5:30 p.m.

One motorist stuck in the traffic said it was backed up for at least 18
miles to the Danbury, Connecticut line.

The truck was broken in half. There was no report from police as of Thursday
evening as to if there were any injuries and what caused the accident.
