Perez-Rodriguez – after
he
turned himself in

TOWN OF WALLKILL – The man wanted for firing of a gun at the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill last Sunday is in custody.
Michael Perez-Rodriguez, 27, of Monticello turned himself in to Monticello Police after a Sullivan County deputy sheriff recognized him from the surveillance video released by the police late Tuesday afternoon.
Perez-Rodriguez, whose residence was lost due to a recent fire recently,
had been living elsewhere in Sullivan County. He is originally from Forest
City, Pennsylvania.
The deputy alerted Wallkill detectives who were able to identify Perez-Rodriguez resulting in him, accompanied by an attorney, turning himself in to police.
Perez is a former security guard who had been employed some time ago for a company that provided security at Sullivan Community College in Loch Sheldrake.

Investigators said he has a license to carry a gun. He was charged with one count of felony reckless endangerment and two counts of misdemeanor assault and was committed to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
When asked if the shooting was accidental or intentional, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said the charges “speak for themselves.”
At the time of the mall incident, Perez-Rodriguez sported a beard. When he turned himself in to police, he was clean shaven.
