ALBANY – The Village of Florida Fire District will receive a $75,000 state grant for blacktopping at the firehouse and the building of a mezzanine for additional storage.
The grant, secured by Senator John Bonacic, comes through the State and Municipal Facilities Program.
“Our local first responders deserve the best working conditions and these upgrades at the firehouse will allow the men and women of the Florida Fire District to better serve the public,” said Bonacic.
The fire department needs additional space of storage of fire equipment, breathing apparatus, fire hose, turnout gear, portable pumps, and a ready room for volunteers on duty.
The funds will also save village residents from having to pay for the upgrades with their money.
