GOSHEN – A Walden man pled guilty in Orange County Court on Tuesday, November 21 to aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of another motorist on March 4.
At the time that Dennis Wilson, Jr., 32, entered his guilty plea before Judge Craig Stephen Brown, he admitted to driving an SUV shortly after midnight on Route 52 in the Town of Montgomery while intoxicated.  He admitted to driving across the double yellow line into the opposite lane, striking another car head-on, killing the other driver, Jason Exley,28, of Walden.
Wilson had a blood alcohol content of .20 at the time of the crash.
At the time of Wilson’s guilty plea, the District attorney’s Office stated it would recommend a sentence of six to 18 years in state prison when he is sentenced in February.
The judge said he would not sentence him to more than five to 15 years.
“Fatalities caused by those who drive while intoxicated are as preventable as they are tragic,” said DA David Hoovler. “Anyone who takes an innocent life by making the conscious decision to risk the lives of those who use our roads, as well as their own life, by driving while intoxicated deserves lengthy incarceration.”
