Seniors dine and dance

MAHOPAC – Sunday’s prom at Mahopac High School bridged the generation gap.
More than 250 “seasoned citizens” were on hand for the 16th annual event that was organized by the school’s Student Athletic Council.
Superintendent Dennis Creedon welcomed the guests of honor calling the senior citizens “our inspiration.” He said they are “living history and are always welcomed in our schools.”
The prom has been held annually on the Sunday before Thanksgiving since 2001 to thank the district’s senior citizens for their support of public education.
Creedon also had praise for the Student Athletic Council, its advisors, Adam Fetzer and Mike Douma, members of the school’s faculty and staff as well as a small army of volunteers for making the event a huge success.   Special thanks went to student volunteers Rob Garcia, Anthony Sohan, April Heady, Carly Steinberg and Anthony Barbaso.
A delicious buffet dinner, party favors, dancing to the sounds of a deejay and good old fashioned fun all highlighted the pre-Thanksgiving gathering.
