NEW PALTZ – Members of the New Paltz Chapter of United University Professions are calling on the state college system to resolve the contract stalemate with its faculty and staff at all SUNY colleges.
Local chapter president Beth Wilson noted they haven’t had a contract since July 1, 2016.
“We have a number of open issued at the table including the all-important money piece in the negotiations,” Wilson said. “The state has ratified agreements with other big unions, PEF and CSEA, that have given them two percent per year increases, so we would like to see a meaningful, reasonable, statewide minimum for adjuncts.”
The UUP members rallied at SUNY New Paltz on Thursday.
Under state law, provisions of the expired contract continue until a new one is ratified.
