TOWN OF GREENPORT – A
mud slide at the Sons and Daughters of Italy at 27 Bridge Street in the
Town of Greenport on Thursday resulted in Columbia County Emergency Management
declaring a state of emergency. Officials said the declaration is meant
to protect life, property and public infrastructure as well as other emergency
assistance as deemed necessary.
People are advised to avoid the area and allow emergency crews time to
remove the hazards. Bridge Street in the Town of Greenport will be closed
until further notice.
Town, county and state officials are working collectively to remove the
hazards.
