The historic turntable in downtown Port Jervis is still functional
PORT JERVIS – The City of Port Jervis, nestled in a valley bordering on the Pennsylvania and New Jersey state lines, is fast becoming a four-season destination that will attract visitors worldwide, says Valerie Maginsky, the city’s community development director.
Some components are already in place while others are under development, she said.
“Taking advantage and the compliment of the watershed trails now, which are some 27 miles, linkages between the downtown train station, the whitewater kayak park and the hiking and biking trails up on the watershed property, so we are moving towards an international, four season, outdoor recreation tourist destination,” Maginsky said.
If the whitewater park on the Delaware River gets federal approvals in the coming spring, the city will begin securing the $2.4 million needed to build the park.
