POUGHKEEPSIE – Republican Dutchess County Comptroller James Coughlan
was 412 votes behind challenger Democrat Robin Lois when the polls closed
on Tuesday night, but he is not ready to concede defeat.

Coughlan said so far there are over 2,500 absentee ballots at the board
of elections and they will be counted next week.

“I look forward to checking out the absentee ballots, military ballots,
and then making an assessment in the coming days on my continued viability
of my candidacy,” he said Wednesday.
The Dutchess County Board of Elections will open and count those ballots
next Tuesday.
