Massachusetts woman caught with crack cocaine

CLAVERACK – A traffic stop on the northbound Taconic State Parkway just north of Route 23 in Claverack resulted in the arrest of a North Adams, Massachusetts woman on felony drug charges.
Early Monday morning, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a car for speeding. The vehicle carried the driver and two passengers, all from North Adams. They were traveling from New York City back to Massachusetts.
One of the passengers, Catherine Terry, 26, was found in possession of 29 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,300.  She was charged with felony and misdemeanor charges of drug possession, possession of a hypodermic instrument, and unlawful possession of marijuana.  She was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.
Additional charges are pending against Terry. The male operator of the vehicle was issued traffic tickets for speeding and for having an unregistered motor vehicle. A male passenger was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.
Assisting in the investigation were the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
