County executive, legislature races highlight busy election day

MID-HUDSON – County executive races in Westchester, Orange and Rockland counties highlight election day.
In Westchester, incumbent Republican Robert Astorino faces a challenge
from Democrat State Senator George Latimer.
Incumbent Orange County, Steven Neuhaus, a Republican, is opposed by Democrat Patrick Davis.
Rockland County’s incumbent Republican Edwin Day has two challengers, Democrat Maureen Porette and Conservative Thomas Sullivan.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, a Republican, goes against Democrat Michael Isgur and Orange County Clerk Annie Rabbitt, a Republican, is opposed by Democrat Deborah Mulqueen.
In Dutchess County, Republican Comptroller James Coughlan is challenged
by Democrat Robin Lois.
Residents in the Town of Monroe will vote on whether to allow 56 acres of land to be separated and joined with the Village of Kiryas Joel to form a new Town of Palm Tree.
There are county legislative races in Westchester, Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties and town supervisor, town council and city elections.
There are State Supreme Court race in the Third and Ninth Judicial District which cover all Hudson Valley counties and others.
Polls are open until 9 p.m.
