BEACON – A study to consider
if the police departments in the City of Beacon, Town of Fishkill and
Village of Fishkill should merge has recommended that they remain separate.
Beacon Mayor Randy Casale said the primary reason is because Beacon is an urban area and the Fishkills are more rural.
The study by Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress did recommend the three departments consider some shared services.
The study recommended the heads of the three departments meet on a regular basis and consider the possibility of a unified dispatch system, the mayor said.
Casale also noted the study suggested the Village and Town of Fishkill consolidate their headquarters facilities.
