HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Joseph and Carol Corsello of Stormville recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and he bought four Super Tripler Cash scratch-off tickets on his way to work.
He scratched three of the four tickets without any success before starting on the job. Then he scratched off the fourth ticket and noticed a match on the number 16 on the second line.
“I scratched the line underneath and saw the words ‘Jackpot – $1 Million’,” he recalled while at the Hopewell Premium Sunoco gas station on Route 82 on Thursday. “I immediately thought of my wife and how lucky I was to find her. I just want to make life easier for her.”
The 62-year-old father of two and grandfather of two said he plans to continue working as a fencing contractor, but without all the stress that comes with worrying about retirement.
Corsello chose to receive his $1 million prize as an annuity. He will receive annual payments of $50,000 – $33,090 after taxes – through 2026.
He said the extra cash will provide a nice cushion for the couple’s retirement.
