NEW YORK – In the wake
of the terror attack in Manhattan on Tuesday in which eight people were
killed and a dozen others injured, the MTA has increased its patrols and
surveillance in order to provide protection across all of its agencies.
The MTA Police Department has beefed up its uniformed and plainclothes
presence at Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station as well as other major
stations throughout the Metro-North Railroad network.
That railroad has two west of Hudson lines three east of the Hudson.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police are on heightened alert at all its facilities including the New York City metropolitan airports. The agency also operates Stewart Airport near Newburgh, which is patrolled by the State Police.
