GOSHEN – The committee
review of the proposed 2018 budget has been completed and Orange County
Executive Steven Neuhaus is pleased that lawmakers were satisfied with
his spending plan.
Neuhaus said legislators just tweaked it ever so slightly.
“If you look at $752 million, if they make a half-million worth of changes, that is such a small percentage of change, that is satisfactory to me that we are doing a good job,” the county exec said. “If people are making 30, 40, 50 percent changes in your budget, that means that you don’t know what you are doing.” Neuhaus said no one commented negatively during budget hearings. “I am feeling very good as to where the county is financially.”
The full county legislature must vote on the spending plan.
